Brave Anna 07:10
when she was young the night light stayed on through swimming fires and names long gone then with unsure dismay she'd face the day till she would come home again each year falls by but she'd always try to believe there was something good waiting for her waiting for everyone how could she stand against the wind when the world can leave you cold and everyone from her youth had gone away or had become so unlike they were back then and how can you mend when there are ghosts on every page, in every song oh anna try to sing on brave anna, brave anna make the best of what you can brave anna, brave anna when life grows dim leave a light on for anyone leave a light on for someone through the times she lived alone she'd see through stars and grasp at stones and with vague certainty could there now be some way to wade through the night without a string holding her limbs she is out drenched in the rain with no windshield to save her she's still standing brave anna, brave anna make the best of what you can brave anna, brave anna when life grows dim leave a light on for everyone leave a light on for someone

Window 04:39
i am close by your side with your hand in mine at the end of your drive streetlights quietly hum and there is no one i'd rather be with sitting by the roadside in a summer night embrace talking through the night the look on your face is something i loved but i never could see through this time should age like it's viewed through old lenses like mist in the morning like reminders of something missing something missing something saturday is bringing lemonade out to greet the sun for a moment i know for a day i know you well for a year i hold your hand no intention of letting go that backyard found its way to bring life to your room the furniture shone the walls like a horizon and out the window a wedding to be this time... i am close by your side with your hand in mine at the end of your drive streetlights quietly hum and there is no one until a future day

she threw her shoes to the wolves and carried on closer to the earth some feeling came from beyond so these miles stretch on in every way you see them all around so she takes one step and puts another down she'd flow like the stream she would dance and she'd fly the evenings she'd dream the mornings she'd light the sky so these days move on like leaves in the fall they spin around so she takes one step and puts another down well lessons can teach and lessons can blind some things you can reach some things you'll never find every time we try to hold something too close we're losing ground so we try to take one step and put another down so this girl moves on like a breeze across a field she makes no sound but she knows to take one step and put another down

in a land i call my own in my mind it's mine one long hawk follows me home again if i'm young i'm brave and strong if i'm old i'll lie if i'm in between i will not die drawing water from this well i'm hoping it's not dry and if i save this moment i am hoping i can fly looking for the answers to questions i cannot phrase and if i save this moment i am hoping for better days further in the trees i see deer rushing away as i turn a corner there they are they do not move just stand and stare watch me pass on by is that strength or fear that's in their eyes drawing water... down the ravine side a trail winds its way to a stream hills on every side it's only me reflected here and mirrored there but i don't look inside i just need some water to be free drawing water...

Outside 04:01
cold in this warmth the wind blows through my hair as i drive down ninety-nine i don't know why i just need to be outside the moon reflects the light the mist makes rings in the sky and in the distance sounds a train that's pushing through and fading out until it dies i wonder how many souls are lost out here and why am i this lonely comfort this blanket of the night outside the moon reflects the light the mist makes rings in the sky and in the distance sounds a train that's pushing through and fading out until it dies outside the moon reflects the light the moon reflects the light the moon reflects the light

picture, picture under the sand buried, buried my feet and hands i had a dream i'm alive everyone there i'm about to arrive candles burn like a memory hold me close subdued, subdued and under sea listen, listen i try to breathe if i could find a light on maybe i'd climb this hill, maybe move on i feel dark, but i'm not a monster i have to go hey now, hey hey now this river i'm on a lantern dimly shows the way still now my feet are not dry as they were i'm looking for the hole in this old boat lightning, lightning and thunder ring every time i hear it is some warning now it's redundant and weak it follows me everywhere, troubles my sleep i see now candles are my memory burning on hey now, hey hey now this river i'm on this lantern dimly shows the way still now my feet are not dry as they were i'm looking for the hole in this old boat

Victoria Day 04:30
i put your name in a bottle and watch you flow downstream by the willow trees the bridge where i sit is basking in the sun but the letters in the heart are clear to everyone victoria day let every breeze blow free we could be one if we feel close we are when we dream we're under the same stars in the sky above do you recall this fire is yours and mine and we have it all victoria day let every breeze blow free

about

Fourth solo album from Monarch Trail's keyboard player/singer Ken Baird. Very song-oriented and often in a folk style. Still with a lot of keyboards but with more guitar-based songs too.
