the spinning wheels will be my friends and all my heroes i have read all along they said they said i could not fail but i don't see too clearly today and i can capture this mad youth i'll carry the torch that i choose i lived underground cold beneath the rails but will i live to tell the tale when i am free i can feel the arrows fly back to me the spinning wheels will be what's left and all my heroes are long dead all along they said they said i could not fail but will i live to tell the tale
2.
early morning grey across the earth days like these you wonder what's life worth if i lived a thousand years i'm sure i'd still be here the shape of my heart the fall of every tear i'm reaching out to you the thread's so thin i fear that i will lose what little i have made my own if you could set me free i'd owe you the world i'd owe you everything oh what will life bring to me every step i take is like a whisper no one hears the planet moves and well here comes the sun days like these you think what have we done i lived a thousand years of shadow and light the infinite space the infinite time
3.
tell me how does it feel to be the last of your kind surroundings are familiar but for the sound of rain in the sky a distant sea is laughing it's known you all along all this time it's been watching and waiting for your call water is rising up and filling the valley and though it looks so beautiful it's calling to me a new river is running through these trunks and washing all away the last of the remnants of fall and summer days it's far too much to carry on i need to reach high ground looking for what we have lost can we save what we've found follow me down a sunlit trail i will return follow me and i'll come back to you i will return
4.
live through the storm it's raging all around when and why did we first start out and if it feels like a dream i wake it's like another dream all of these waves are pressing down on me way up above the clouds the planes don't need to face the rain and so they race to the sun and now that's where i'd like to be to see as i have seen with stainless skies around me beauty lives at the start of the day this side of the earth wakes up once again but if the weather will shut out the light and warmth that i need now can you show me a way to leave the ground
5.
i'll tell you where i came from the town was small but the roads were long i fell into life i fell into yours and though i meant well i was not strong who will hold me now who will love me now who will judge me now who will leave me now summer nights in a haze faces worn like a masquerade i saw you shine i saw you fall and i could not get through at all i sat alone i'd forgotten the past i heard your song it brought me back to when i could not see so far and every day i tried too hard now the souls are wandering here and there after all they sing they're reflections of the ones who've gone faded names on the walls where they came from
6.
hey now it's all going by me going by so fast i can barely see sometimes when i'm stopped i catch a glimpse of something i'm not i look up to the sky all my life i've left behind me memories and dreams i always thought they'd try to find me at first they did but now as the highway greets a friend i welcome the start i welcome the end i'm putting my foot right down again hey when the nights get longer i know i can't go on forever sometimes when i sleep i really wake up everyone i meet won't look me in the eyes all my life what stood against me did i give up too soon sometimes i'd fight so hard to win only to see it fail as the highway greets a friend hey now there's something turning me hey i feel i just might see all my life it stands before me my friends and enemies what can i do but live again what can i do but try as the highway greets a friend
7.
watching all the time for what i cannot see the light that has found them or what they do believe a way they hold it seems alive a lie to me oh but still i could try reflections in the lake from above and we don't even try to see enough oh all that could be i haven't spoken a word or written down a thought for so long thought i'd forget what went wrong but when i think of moonlight the time was so alive i try to move on i tried to move on as i recall you'd hold your head down but you'd still act so above them that you would laugh out loud reflections in the lake from above never even tried to see enough reflections in the lake should do no harm and now who is this sweet soul on my arm
8.
the last time we looked into your eyes it seemed as if the hope had taken flight but you can hide and place the perfect smile to fool and lie beauty is on holiday he's everything to lose and what lies before him is so hard to choose no safe way, to begin to live again he's looking for, looking for someone who will show him a way out distance you have felt for so long it's ticking through your mind and it feels wrong you're pretending and it starts to feel comfortable and warm the prison door remains open the last time
9.
Further Out 10:01
the angle of the setting sun hit me in such a way it took me right back to when i was not alone we were not alone it's you i was talking to how could we know that our lives are so short will they be long enough for us fly on, fly on through the night ride on, ride on to reach the sky who would have thought that we could get further out and the stars that we would never have dreamt about mist in our eyes and what is realized will we become what we believe once we were truly found i remember the day you looked like you asked why did i leave without you what kind of replacement could i really find because i finally learned there is so little time to waste
